Medicare Will Cover Weight-Loss Drugs Starting July 1 — For $50/Month
Big news for Medicare enrollees: starting July 1, the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program will cover popular weight-loss medications — including Wegovy, Zepbound, and the new pill Foundayo — for just $50 per month. These drugs currently cost $150 to $700/month out of pocket, so this is a meaningful change. To qualify, you must be enrolled in a Medicare Part D plan, have a BMI of 27 or higher, and have a related condition such as heart disease or prediabetes. The program runs through December 31, 2027. Long-Term Care and Medicaid: Important Changes on the Horizon
If your retirement plan includes eventually qualifying for Medicaid to help cover long-term care costs, the rules are changing in ways worth discussing now. The One Big Beautiful Bill includes roughly $1 trillion in Medicaid reductions over the next decade, with cuts to home health and supportive care services phasing in. Additionally, beginning in 2028, a new $1 million cap on home equity will affect Medicaid long-term care eligibility — meaning Florida homeowners with significant property values may no longer qualify the same way they once planned. The time to review your long-term care strategy is before you need it — not after. (More)

Most Americans Still Don't Have an Estate Plan
A 2026 national survey of 5,000 adults found that 56% of Americans have no estate planning documents in place. If that includes you — or someone you care about — this is a gentle nudge. A basic plan doesn't have to be complicated, and having one in place is one of the most meaningful things you can do for your family.

Quick Reminder: Beneficiary Designations Override Your Will
Retirement accounts and life insurance policies pass to whoever is listed as beneficiary on file — regardless of what your will says. If you've had a marriage, divorce, or loss in the family and haven't updated those designations, now is a good time.

The History of the American IPO

With SpaceX preparing for what could be the largest initial public offering in history, it's a good time to look back at how America's most iconic companies came to market — and what they were worth on day one.

1956 — Ford Motor Company goes public at $64.50 per share, raising $650 million in the largest IPO of its era. Over 350,000 Americans bought shares in the first week.

1980 — Apple Computer debuted at $22 per share, valuing the company at $1.8 billion. By end of day, shares had climbed to $29. A $1,000 investment that day would be worth over $2 million today.

1995 — Netscape launched the internet era's first great IPO, doubling from $28 to $58 on its first day — despite having almost no revenue. It marked the unofficial start of the dot-com boom.

2004 — Google priced at $85 per share in an unusual Dutch auction designed to let everyday investors participate. Early skeptics called it overpriced. Today, those same shares are worth more than $22,000 each (split-adjusted).

2026 — SpaceX targets $135 per share in what analysts project could be the largest IPO ever attempted. History is watching.

The lesson from every era: transformative companies are often underestimated at the starting line.
